Hey Everyone!
As everyone that knows Ellis all know that he just loves his books so a few weeks ago when we had the opportunity to review this fabulous book. I immediately jumped at the chance. Let's be honest how could I not and I'm so glad I did because we have had a brilliant time at story time and just during playtime with the iPad reviewing this book. I love reading time before bed with him. So this brings me to this amazing children's book "Nemo and Giraffe" by Mrs Lee Hunter.

Nemo and Giraffe is a brilliantly colored book that will just catch up eye and your little one's eye. A great go to read for anyone who loves children's books. My little boy has recently developed a love for animals so if your little ones are the same this book is perfect.

Mrs Lee Hunter's mission statement for this book is inspiring and worth some recognition. "The aim of this book and series is to help young children form positive relationships with cats and all pets and to learn how to care for them from a young age. It also strives to teach valuable life lessons including friendship and to also promote animal rights and welfare." Definitely worth having in your children library if your a animal lover.

As a design student I naturally notice the illustration in books especially in children's books. The illustrator of this book, Lindy Damen. Has a brilliant eye for bold colour and simple design that children could follow easily.

I can not fault anything about this book and I'm excited to see what is to come from this talented author and I can't want to see what's next in her vision. Would highly recommend it to all parents for they children.

It can be ordered here and I can't wait for her second book.

Be sure to check in on Mrs Lee Hunter's social media.

Garden Time

As anyone who knows Ellis, He loves playing and having time in the garden. At any given opportunity he will be out the door in a flash to play. Which I'm sure is the same as any other toddler. I love to see him playing in the garden. He loves it.

He absolutely adores the water hose in his grandparents house. He loves watering the garden and the plants and even the dog. Poor dog.

I love this picture. He looks up to no good. Which he probably is. Ellis has discovered his little cheeky personality.

Have You Thought About Car Safety Recently?

Lately I've realised how little I think about car safety. I'm personally not a car person at all, so I'm not sure if it's just me but if you are like me and don't think about your car safety alot. Maybe this can help you?

Sometimes especially as a parent we need to be that extra bit careful. Whether it's from double checking the road before walking over with our children or always keeping a eye on them in case they are doing something they don't know is dangerous. That being said we also having the responsibility to keep a bit more careful notice on the safety of our cars and tyres when we have our children in the car taking them places.
Top 3 things to consider when thinking of car safety as a parent:

1.
Tyres;  It's important to keep an eye out for your tyre pressure and to keep them at the right pressure. Also keep an eye on your tyre tread. I would suggest Point S tyres as they have great prices, allow the convenience of checking out the complete range of tyres online, booking tyres online and get an instant quote. You can view all the other services available at Point S tyre depot too.

2.
Brakes; It's just as important to keep your brakes checked. I know as a car owner and a parent that healthy brakes are important.

3. Suspension; This is important as the shock absorbs help keep the car in contact with the road.

There is a competition for the customers that use Point S where you can get a chance to win a car! Who doesn't want to win a car!!

Hey everyone,
I haven't post a lot this past week which seems like it's been forever since I last posted. A lot has happened these last two weeks. I've made some big decisions and changes to benefit the future of my family and myself. I can't wait to share it all with you later on. Feeling like the future is bright and feeling super positive.

Anyway, where do I begin? Ellis has had a eventful week. But the best bits that have stuck out for me are. First, when we were waiting in the hospital car park for my gran to finish her meeting. I had to entertain Ellis in the car for a hour. Which by it's own was a challenge. He watched in the night garden and had his head out the window shouting for ducks. He was climbing up and down his car seat. But what makes this moment stick out is him learning how to put on his seat belt. And he was so happy with himself. It was so cute to watch and luckily I got it on video aswell. I'm always missing things on video because I always forget to get my phone out to video. And I regret it later on. One of my goals for myself is to really focus on getting more footage of Ellis.

Another thing this week that has stood out is the day we were watching peppa pig back to back. And everytime peppa came on. He would say pig pig pig. I was so cute. He loves peppa pig. We also did a sticker book that day aswell and stuck all his peppa pig stickers. And with that sticker book we got a poster, we put the poster up on the wall next to his craft table and everytime he goes past it, he always points and says pig.

With everything that goes on in life and how busy it all gets. Everything passes you by so quickly. And I made a promise to Ellis the other day that I would take the time in the busy days we have to always sit and talk to him about his day and always treasure every minute we get to be together.

So to the start of a new week and hopefully I lot more blog posts. I can't wait to see what this week brings and all the adventures that are to come.

So until then. Enjoy and come say hi to us.

What We Did: My Little Explorer

We have been fairly busy lately. So we haven't had much time to explore the outdoors and visit some family. So when we had the chance to do some exploring in the sun before we had to get in the car. We did just that. As you already may know Ellis loves to be outdoors. He's loving grass at the moment aswell. Which would be a complete story a few months ago when he wasn't too sure about the grass. Thankfully he know loves it. Giggles his little head off every time he gets to run around like a little hyper person.

We've had a eventful weekend. I always love getting to the time to take my little man to places. Even if this is just to visit family or a friend. He loves being out the house and getting to walk around. He is really great at walking and more importantly he loves it. Would rather walk around than be pushed in his pushchair or stroller. So I've been writing a list of places I want to take Ellis this summer. May that should be a another post?

Do You Ever Feel Isolated As A Mother?

Recently I've been having a few bad days. You know them kinda days when everything just gets on top of you and you start feeling isolated from your family or friends because of all the pressures of parenthood.

Well that's been what's been happening lately. Sometimes life gets piled on top of you and as a mother you also have all of them pressures aswell. What do you do when this happens? Because when this happened to me this week. I honestly didn't have a clue how to handle it.

With saying this, I basically only survive with having my nights to myself and nap time. Ellis goes to sleep around 7-8 every night. But this past week he has been going 10-11 and getting up during the night aswell. So his whole nap time routine and everything between has been through off course. So without this time for myself I've been really struggling to feel human.

Another thing I've started to notice lately is your friends without children love to do things after the kids bedtime. And some just don't take in to consideration that you can't just get a babysitter to go out after bedtime. sometimes because you just can't because you don't have anyone to babysit. Which is the case for me alot of the time. Well 99% of the time. And sometimes you just want to relax and catch up on things you can't do when your with the kiddies.

Does this happen to you or is it just me? Does anyone have these days? What are your best tips for surviving it?

Do you ever feel isolated as a mother?

We Met Iggle Piggle And Went Shopping

As anyone that knows Ellis will know he is a Iggle Piggle lover. When we were in the shopping centre and Ellis found Iggle Piggle in his little boat. So what did Ellis do first? Of course he tried to stick his fingers in Iggle's mouth. Ellis's thing at the moment is feeling tongues. He also has learnt to stick his tongue out at everyone and laughs his little head off. It's so cute.

He didn't stay to long on the boat as he doesn't like staying still too long as most people will know that toddlers just don't sit still ever. So it was really hard to get a picture of him sat down next to Iggle because all he wanted to do was stand and touch Iggle. Ellis is really starting to get a right little personality and it's so fun to watch and learn all about.

Ellis love running on grass. So we spend a good chunk of time playing on the grass before we went in and got nana.

Of course when we ever go shopping because Ellis has become my little shopping pal lately. Their has to be a sausage roll reward. He didn't finish it all though today as he hasn't been eating all his lunch's. But that's a whole other story to tell.

It's been a good day. What did you do today?

  What I Did

We started our day with a little play in the garden. Ellis at any chance he gets will go out in the garden or outside. I love seeing how excited he gets when he's running around. He loves playing "football" where you have to kick the ball and he picks it up and throws it.

After garden fun it was time for Ellis's nap time. He normally goes down for around 2-3 hours. This is the time that I get housework and some lunch usually. There is normally a million things on my list to get done and never do I get through them all in this time.

When Ellis woke up we ended up going to visit Nana then we stopped by Gran's for dinner. Ellis loves going over Gran's partly i think because everything is on one level and there is no stairs. Which means Ellis can access to the toilet. He loves flushing the toilet. I love seeing Ellis bond with his Gran. We then went home and got ready for Ellis's bedtime routine.

After Ellis got to sleep. I got some time to sit down and watch a film. I'm a Netflix addict. So whenever I get the chance to sit down and relax with some chocolate I take full advantage.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend.
What did yous do this weekend?

Throwback Thursday: Winter Snow Day

January was the first snow day of this year and Ellis's first time in the snow ever. Even though there wasn't many days of snow this year. We made sure to make the most of it. We had a lovely day in the garden throwing snow balls and walking around in the fresh snow.

Ellis wasn't too sure when I first took him outside in the snow. It took him awhile to step outside in to the snow. Once he finally got brave and in the snow he wouldn't come back in. I love watching and seeing my son having fun and experiencing new things. It was a bonus that we got it on camera. My goal lately is to capture as much as I can of Ellis's life.

Have a great day

xoxo

You know them days where you just feel like everyone expects you to be a superhero? Well I'm having one of them weeks. Sometimes people don't realise what stress mothers are under.

So here's my top 5 things to distress when baby goes to bed:

1. Get some of your few bath products mine at the moment are some lush bath bombs that I purchased the other day. And get your favourite TV show on or netflix and have a lovely long bath.

2. Put some candles on and read your favourite book in candle light with a blanket.

3.  Sit down with a huge cup of hot chocolate and catch up on the soaps. As Ellis's bedtime routine has been a bit backwards lately I haven't been able to watch my soaps when they come on TV so I have to record them or watch them on demand.

4. Watch my favourite youtuber on the laptop in bed with some sweets and chocolate.

5. I love just getting my sketchbook out and putting my headphones in and listening to music while drawing. I can lose hours doing this.

So here's my top 5 things to destress when baby goes to bed. Every mother need some me time even if it is at night before you get to sleep. I treasure these time I have because it keeps me sane.

Enjoy and would always love to hear from you.

Am I a bad mother?

This is a question most commonly asked amongst us parents. I would never question myself or my ability. I know I am a brilliant mother to my child. I would do anything. But you know that voice inside your head that says "Can you be better?" "Are you doing enough?" "Because I'm not doing the same as that mother, Am I a bad mother?" I need to start telling myself or making little reminders to myself that I am doing my best.

Sometimes I often question the little things like can you spend more time with them? Or when you put toy story on and let your child sit on the sofa with his toys watching it while you get your washing done. I think we all need to remind ourself it's okay to get things done or how else are we going to do it? It's just okay.

Anyway, the reason before all this thinking today is, today we have had a catch up day. All of last week we've been poorly so that of course meant no washing done, no ironing done, hardly any housework done. So today was the start of the week and a start on the catch up.

Firstly, Ellis had a early doctor appointment, followed by a little trail around the town. We went looking at the pet store for guinea pigs and bunny's. Lately I've been thinking about getting Ellis a guinea pig. I loved my pet guinea pig when I was younger. And really interested in getting another. Our next door neighbour has some rabbits out in her garden and Ellis is always looking through the fence to see them.

Then it was nap time for Ellis, While nap time this was the main catch up time. I did good and got mostly everything done. So we are nearly back on track. This afternoon has been a eventful one for many different reasons.

How you ever wondered to yourself why do I feel like I'm a bad mother when I'm doing my best and completely rocking it. Sometimes we compare ourselves to others. We need to tell ourselves that's we are good parents regardless of what others do around us and just be our own types of parents in our own ways because that's exactly who our children need us to be. Ourselves for them.

At the end of the day, what would we be without our children. I know I wouldn't be where I am right now and I love where I am. I wouldn't know the unconditional love of a parent for a child without my son.

It's just okay to be okay.

Xoxo
