What We Did: My Little Explorer

We have been fairly busy lately. So we haven't had much time to explore the outdoors and visit some family. So when we had the chance to do some exploring in the sun before we had to get in the car. We did just that. As you already may know Ellis loves to be outdoors. He's loving grass at the moment aswell. Which would be a complete story a few months ago when he wasn't too sure about the grass. Thankfully he know loves it. Giggles his little head off every time he gets to run around like a little hyper person.

We've had a eventful weekend. I always love getting to the time to take my little man to places. Even if this is just to visit family or a friend. He loves being out the house and getting to walk around. He is really great at walking and more importantly he loves it. Would rather walk around than be pushed in his pushchair or stroller. So I've been writing a list of places I want to take Ellis this summer. May that should be a another post?

What have you been doing this weekend? Anything nice?

Do You Ever Feel Isolated As A Mother?

Recently I've been having a few bad days. You know them kinda days when everything just gets on top of you and you start feeling isolated from your family or friends because of all the pressures of parenthood.

Well that's been what's been happening lately. Sometimes life gets piled on top of you and as a mother you also have all of them pressures aswell. What do you do when this happens? Because when this happened to me this week. I honestly didn't have a clue how to handle it.

With saying this, I basically only survive with having my nights to myself and nap time. Ellis goes to sleep around 7-8 every night. But this past week he has been going 10-11 and getting up during the night aswell. So his whole nap time routine and everything between has been through off course. So without this time for myself I've been really struggling to feel human.

Another thing I've started to notice lately is your friends without children love to do things after the kids bedtime. And some just don't take in to consideration that you can't just get a babysitter to go out after bedtime. sometimes because you just can't because you don't have anyone to babysit. Which is the case for me alot of the time. Well 99% of the time. And sometimes you just want to relax and catch up on things you can't do when your with the kiddies.

Does this happen to you or is it just me? Does anyone have these days? What are your best tips for surviving it?

Do you ever feel isolated as a mother?

We Met Iggle Piggle And Went Shopping

As anyone that knows Ellis will know he is a Iggle Piggle lover. When we were in the shopping centre and Ellis found Iggle Piggle in his little boat. So what did Ellis do first? Of course he tried to stick his fingers in Iggle's mouth. Ellis's thing at the moment is feeling tongues. He also has learnt to stick his tongue out at everyone and laughs his little head off. It's so cute.

He didn't stay to long on the boat as he doesn't like staying still too long as most people will know that toddlers just don't sit still ever. So it was really hard to get a picture of him sat down next to Iggle because all he wanted to do was stand and touch Iggle. Ellis is really starting to get a right little personality and it's so fun to watch and learn all about.

Ellis love running on grass. So we spend a good chunk of time playing on the grass before we went in and got nana.

Of course when we ever go shopping because Ellis has become my little shopping pal lately. Their has to be a sausage roll reward. He didn't finish it all though today as he hasn't been eating all his lunch's. But that's a whole other story to tell.

It's been a good day. What did you do today?

  What I Did

We started our day with a little play in the garden. Ellis at any chance he gets will go out in the garden or outside. I love seeing how excited he gets when he's running around. He loves playing "football" where you have to kick the ball and he picks it up and throws it.

After garden fun it was time for Ellis's nap time. He normally goes down for around 2-3 hours. This is the time that I get housework and some lunch usually. There is normally a million things on my list to get done and never do I get through them all in this time.

When Ellis woke up we ended up going to visit Nana then we stopped by Gran's for dinner. Ellis loves going over Gran's partly i think because everything is on one level and there is no stairs. Which means Ellis can access to the toilet. He loves flushing the toilet. I love seeing Ellis bond with his Gran. We then went home and got ready for Ellis's bedtime routine.

After Ellis got to sleep. I got some time to sit down and watch a film. I'm a Netflix addict. So whenever I get the chance to sit down and relax with some chocolate I take full advantage.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend.
What did yous do this weekend?

Throwback Thursday: Winter Snow Day

January was the first snow day of this year and Ellis's first time in the snow ever. Even though there wasn't many days of snow this year. We made sure to make the most of it. We had a lovely day in the garden throwing snow balls and walking around in the fresh snow.

Ellis wasn't too sure when I first took him outside in the snow. It took him awhile to step outside in to the snow. Once he finally got brave and in the snow he wouldn't come back in. I love watching and seeing my son having fun and experiencing new things. It was a bonus that we got it on camera. My goal lately is to capture as much as I can of Ellis's life.

Have a great day

You know them days where you just feel like everyone expects you to be a superhero? Well I'm having one of them weeks. Sometimes people don't realise what stress mothers are under.

So here's my top 5 things to distress when baby goes to bed:

1. Get some of your few bath products mine at the moment are some lush bath bombs that I purchased the other day. And get your favourite TV show on or netflix and have a lovely long bath.

2. Put some candles on and read your favourite book in candle light with a blanket.

3.  Sit down with a huge cup of hot chocolate and catch up on the soaps. As Ellis's bedtime routine has been a bit backwards lately I haven't been able to watch my soaps when they come on TV so I have to record them or watch them on demand.

4. Watch my favourite youtuber on the laptop in bed with some sweets and chocolate.

5. I love just getting my sketchbook out and putting my headphones in and listening to music while drawing. I can lose hours doing this.

So here's my top 5 things to destress when baby goes to bed. Every mother need some me time even if it is at night before you get to sleep. I treasure these time I have because it keeps me sane.

Enjoy and would always love to hear from you.

Am I a bad mother?

This is a question most commonly asked amongst us parents. I would never question myself or my ability. I know I am a brilliant mother to my child. I would do anything. But you know that voice inside your head that says "Can you be better?" "Are you doing enough?" "Because I'm not doing the same as that mother, Am I a bad mother?" I need to start telling myself or making little reminders to myself that I am doing my best.

Sometimes I often question the little things like can you spend more time with them? Or when you put toy story on and let your child sit on the sofa with his toys watching it while you get your washing done. I think we all need to remind ourself it's okay to get things done or how else are we going to do it? It's just okay.

Anyway, the reason before all this thinking today is, today we have had a catch up day. All of last week we've been poorly so that of course meant no washing done, no ironing done, hardly any housework done. So today was the start of the week and a start on the catch up.

Firstly, Ellis had a early doctor appointment, followed by a little trail around the town. We went looking at the pet store for guinea pigs and bunny's. Lately I've been thinking about getting Ellis a guinea pig. I loved my pet guinea pig when I was younger. And really interested in getting another. Our next door neighbour has some rabbits out in her garden and Ellis is always looking through the fence to see them.

Then it was nap time for Ellis, While nap time this was the main catch up time. I did good and got mostly everything done. So we are nearly back on track. This afternoon has been a eventful one for many different reasons.

How you ever wondered to yourself why do I feel like I'm a bad mother when I'm doing my best and completely rocking it. Sometimes we compare ourselves to others. We need to tell ourselves that's we are good parents regardless of what others do around us and just be our own types of parents in our own ways because that's exactly who our children need us to be. Ourselves for them.

At the end of the day, what would we be without our children. I know I wouldn't be where I am right now and I love where I am. I wouldn't know the unconditional love of a parent for a child without my son.

It's just okay to be okay.

Day Out At: Metro Shopping Centre

Yesterday we decided to have a little ride out in the car. So we waited until Ellis was up from his nap and set off in the car. We ended up getting on the road up to the Metro Shopping Centre in Gateshead. We spend about 6 hours here in total without realising what time it was.

We started off looking for the toilets. You know how it is when you have babies. Whether it's you or your child needs the toilet someone always has to go.

Subway was on the menu for us. The cookie I halved with Ellis because I'm nice like that. After a long day of unexpected shopping and walking all the way around the shops. I got Ellis his Bullseye toy that we saw earlier on that day in the Disney store. We love the Disney store. I couldn't believe how many soft toys there were this time we went. Ellis, of course seemed to like ALL of them. He had his eyes on his Bullseye toy. So Mummy treated him for being such a good boy that day. And it will add to his collection anyway.

We had a late day out. I got myself some pyjamas bottoms from Primark. When we finally got home. I got Ellis ready for bed in his new pyjamas. He also got new ones aswell. I got him ready for bed and Ellis says to me as we are going upstairs "I get Dog" meaning his Bullseye horsey. He cuddled his all the way home and all night. Even now he carries him around with him and sleeps with him tonight aswell. I think it's his new favourite toy. It's so cute.

Enjoy

Can I help my toddlers development more?

So I've just been reading around about toddlers and toddler ideas on the Internet. It's become a guilty pleasure of mine lately, I hope I'm not the only one. Anyways I came across this article about toddler's development from the ages of 18 months to 23 months and it was saying about how taking your toddlers shopping with you will improve their develop. That then lead me to think about it alot more and what I can do more as a mum of a toddler.

‘There is evidence that more active activities can boost the development of children’s capabilities’

This is a quote from the research team from the article. I often wonder whether I'm doing enough as a mother to provide the best start to his develop and Am I doing it right But I think every parent thinks this along the line sometime. With life that gets in the way sometimes, it's vital to always allow time to play and interact with your children and build a firm relationship even if it's just the simple things like kissing them goodnight or read a story book which them. It's important to know we all are doing our very best and that's all that can be asked of us. But I'm no expect and I'm a first time mother and learning as I go. I think whether your a first time mum or a fourth time mum you learn something every time because life is about learning and developing whatever your doing.

So I've thought of a few things I can do to help improve my toddlers development:

  • Read books with them and let them pick out which books they want to read even if you only end up looking at one or two pictures. Ellis loves looking at one pictures in a Peppa pig book and then puts it away.
  • Tell stories together
  • imaginative play.
  • Building blocks, Ellis loves piling up objects from around the house. He finds it so fun and keeps him entertained for a good while as well.
  • Painting and colouring books
  • Arts and Craft

I love watching my child sit and play and talk away to all his toys that he's lined up. It brings great joy to watch them be happy. Please let me know if you have any ideas of fun time or activities you do with your children?
Hope you have a good day.

enjoy

Throwback Thursday

We spent the morning at Hardwick park, a local country park near where we live. It was really sunny before we set off where I live and when we got here it was dull and just plain miserable. But Ellis loved it regardless. There is a castle here, a nature walk, a huge lake, a little river and loads of different wild birds. I didn't get many shots of the different bird wild life like I wanted to because Ellis was too busy running after them and playing duck whisperer.

Ellis's loved the ducks. He really does like animals.

He was so focused on the ducks.

We had a little walk through the woodland. Ellis played with the sticks.

 View of the lake.

Ellis's Outfit here is:

Shoes: British Knights

How To Survive A Cold With A Toddler

So this past week we've had colds. Ellis has had it first and then past it on to me and back and forth. Luckily now though we have both got over it minus a few sniffles here and there. So I thought I'd write a post about how to survive your cold with a toddler. As a mother you don't get sick days even when you really need them because you have a dependant child who needs you more than you need your bed sometimes. So you pick yourself up and you just carry on. With struggle I may add but needless to say it's hard and all you want to do is curl up in bed and sleep it off.

So here's a few things that's helped us get through this week with a cold:

Top Right: Jackson Reece Natural Nose Nuzzle Wipes x20
This are very important. They keep your little ones little nose's all clean and germ free and hopefully help stop the redness and soreness.

Top Left: Calpol Infant Sugar Free
Number one thing to always have in your changing bag, house, with you. As this is a miracle worker for many things, we have found. Plus Ellis loves the taste of it and loves the syringe to sucks on it for more coming out.

Bottom Right: Toy Story
As this is Ellis's all time favourite film, we have been watching it almost non stop. Which I don't mind when he's poorly. It seems to cheer him up. So recommend a favourite film.

Bottom Left: Panda Bear
Panda bear is so soft and so cuddly. Ellis loves cuddling him with a blanklet watching his favourite tv show or film.

Top Right: Calpol Saline Nasal Drops
We didn't use this that much this week, but it's always nice to have around when little noses get all stuffed up.

Top Left: Calpol Vapour Plug & Nightlight
Even thought Ellis doesn't normally sleep with a nightlight it's always a nice addition.

Top Right: Tesco Max Strength Cold and Flu Day and Night
Kept me going and kept me from being unable to leave my bed. It did took awhile for my cold to leave, but I put that down to me and Ellis both giving each other it back.

Top Left: Tissues
This were for me as my nose never stopped running this week.

With all this said the much important thing to remember when trying to survive a cold or flu with a child is stay strong. It will pass, the cold wont be here forever. Just try and enjoy the precious time with your children with a cold or without a cold.

Come and say hi
Enjoy

Beauty Favourites; April 2015

I've decided to share my favourite's from this month because I have actually brought more than I normally do.

The first thing I thought I'd share is this little cute lantern candle holder from Ikea £2. This currently lives in my bedroom on my desk.

I love the perfume by Rihanna called reb'l fleur, it's fast became my go to perfume. You know when you get so use to putting it on you don't really realise that your putting on until it's too late to go back. Luckily, this has a gorgeous smell to it.

I picked this up from savers the other day and it's amazing. I have crazy rough hands. This has a gorgeous smell to it and it's working pretty well on my hands so far. Is there any hand creams you'd recommend that's worked wonders for you?

Benefit Mascara They're Real, This is by far my favourite item in this blog post. This works great with my eyelashes. I have really blonde eyelashes so when I don't wear mascara it looks like I don't have any at all. This is so easy to apply and works great with just one application. Which is wonderful for us busy mother's.

This is relatively new, I've only tried it for a few days now but what I can tell I'm liking it and it's doing its job, And my skin seems to be getting a little brighter and clearer. I'm happy with this so far.

Favourite blusher at the moment Mac Cosmetics powder blush in the shade pinch me , I love the tone of this colour and how it works with my skin tone. The lady at the mac counter recommended this shade to me, otherwise I would have never picked out this shade for myself. I'm used to be rather unadventurous when it comes to blushes. I'm so happy with this purchase.

I finally got around to burning my Christmas scented Yankee candles Iclcles, I got this one in the twin pack  medium sized jars, icicles and Christmas cookie.

I got this from our local Tesco on special offer at the moment half price I think it was. What attracted me to these were that they were bedtime pampering wipes to get your skin ready for bedtime. Lately I've been wanting to mix up my nighttime skin routine and improve it as I want to look after my skin a little better, as you only have your skin once. If anyone has any recommends feel free to share, thank you.

hope you enjoyed reading
